Information Systems Management and Business Value
back
to top
Organisations
today consume a substantial amount of financial resources to acquire and
manage their IT resources. This initiative is important for the organisations
because IT is a key enabler of response activities to counter their business
pressures. Aside, questions continue to surface regarding the value of
IT in organisations. This means that organisations need to demonstrate
how they will manage their information systems to ensure alignment of
their IT initiatives to the strategic objectives of their organisation.
One of the ways to achieve this is demonstrate ways to manage the IT resources
secure IT-related business value, and how and where to evaluate the IT-related
business value.

Information
Systems Education & Training
back
to top
The rapid evolution
of business conditions and educational technologies, and pressures on
the higher education sector increases the demands on universities to continuously
review and update curriculum with innovative and efficient ways. IS education
departments in particular face many challenges in relation to: coping
with decreased student enrolments, decreases in funding, demands on universities
to better align their curriculum with industry requirements, and continuously
updating the curriculum with resource limitations. These challenges force
universities to review their curriculum and rethink the design and delivery
of their courses. The track on IS education is dedicated to discuss these
challenges, and their impact. It offers strategies and examples for the
future of IS education.
